I know we live in a world where people have phones with 8mp cameras that shoot 1080i video, but I've been lugging around an enormous 8mp DSLR made in 2005 with no video capability for years and just got a camera that does video (and it's only 720p video, so a side feature your phone still beats the height of my technology) and was messing around at a few points here and there in a sort of, "Dude, this thing actually takes video!" kind of way.
I had the tourist with the big SLR bit down, but I was reluctant to embrace tourist walking around taking pointless videos of stuff persona (I'm not a 38 year old Asian after all). So most of my videoing was done in places where no one would notice.
Speaking of taking on identities with gadgets, I was driving, so I asked Myka to run the camera while we approached the Golden Gate. We don't have any kids yet, but since we got married, Myka has wholeheartedly embraced the "Mom who pretends she's too dumb with electronics to even turn on the TV unless she's alone" persona.
I had to plead with her before she would agree to hold the camera, but the joke was on me. When I watched the video I saw that she decided to prove her incompetence by choosing not point the camera at the bridge while we approached it. Once we got on the bridge, she dropped the lens cap on the floor of the car, pointed the camera at the dashboard while she frantically looked for the cap as if it were a grenade with the pin pulled.
Of course, she claims it was all an accident and "I didn't know what to do."
I think you can hear me yelling at her over the music I dubbed on it.
Anyway, here it is:
